Work in Climate: Redefining the Pathways
Our inaugural Work in Climate session brought together two remarkable women, Joyce Kamande (Co-founder, Safi Organics) and Georgina Njeru (Program Officer, CEJAD), in conversation with Sisters in Climate founder, Natalie Sifuma. Together, they unpacked the non-linear, deeply personal journeys that brought them into the climate space.
From Joyce’s work transforming agricultural waste into organic fertilizer, to Georgina’s shift from a traditional law background to leading efforts in plastic pollution policy, both stories highlighted that climate careers are often born out of lived experience, local challenges, and a deep desire to create change.
This quarterly Zoom series, inspired by our community’s needs, aims to explore career pivots into climate — particularly those that fall outside conventional definitions. It’s a space for honest conversations, African-led narratives, and new ways of thinking about climate work.
